I am very blessed to work with some fab kids who have ADHD and/or Autism twice a month, and with their parents to offer respite on alternate weeks. I am learning fast about what engages the kids and how to interact with them, to bring out the best in them and offer them a safe […]
Two Wednesdays ago, I had the great pleasure of joining Becks and other adults from the Forest Group at Ty Mawr Country Park to be inspired by nature and learn about autism by the campfire. It was really lovely to be surrounded by the gorgeous range of autumn colours and wonderful people. Wednesday after that, the […]
A couple of weeks ago, the Tree Carving Crew (that is, Simon and I) set up in Grosvenor Park in Chester, helping make wood cookie necklaces to raise funds for Children Today. We made fifty-one pounds, and £3,000 was collected in total. But that’s not all! We’re hosting another charity event this Friday. so, come on […]
In June I lead three sessions as part of Westminster Primary’s Enrichment After School Club. We had to deal with some pretty heavy rain during the second session, but we persevered, learning about seasons, playing the ‘Name Game’, and a quick fire round of Oranges and Lemons. We also made seasonal pictures, which turned out great. […]
Wow, there is a lot to catch up on! In December, the hubby and I returned from a trip to Japan in which he was carving sculptures with one of the best from across the pond. And, before that, November was absolutely filled to the brim with activity. There was the final coastal session with […]
Things have been a little crazy for me, recently. I’ve been moving house, as well as running an action packed coastal school session in Llandudno (see photo – above – of my fellow explorers). If anyone is interested in any Forest or Coastal school sessions/parties, please get in touch. I’m always looking for new things to […]
Business/busy-ness has continued, and I’m happy to report that yesterday’s work with North Wales Police and a group of fourteen fantastic 10-16-year-olds from the Tryddyn area went wonderfully. I delivered a range of outdoor craft activities including painting pebbles, making wood cookies, and learning about tool use. Such a fab time!
So, so far this month I have delivered Forest School to 171 children in one afternoon at the Bolesworth International Showjumping event in Cheshire, put on some craft activities and worm hunts for my God daughter’s summer fair in Wrexham, and attended a two day Coastal School course to develop my Outdoor Education portfolio! I’ve […]
Today I went with Becks to deliver a Community Engagement Session to children and adults living in Rhyl who live in areas that don’t always have a lot going on for them to take part in. We learned some knots for shelter building, did some chalk drawing, pebble painting and some planting in the new […]
Today I was assisting my friend Becks with a ‘Come outside’ Christmas campfire session – it was just wonderful! We basically sang Christmas songs, played Christmas games and drank hot chocolate for two hours… oh, and made Christmas decorations using natural materials! Can’t get much better really!
